Matt Tropiano's little slice of web.

'Sup, fools.

You know that interview that Andi Hamilton wanted to do that I talked about in the Trip to EGX article? Well, it's finally in print!

Andi's article, The Cult of Doom, can be found in the June 2015 UK or July 2015 US issue of PC Gamer magazine. It's the one with Star Wars: Battlefront on the cover. Three screenshots of The Adventures of Square got in, as well as a whole bunch of words about Doom from me, Jimmy, and even newbie-mapper/oldie creator Cyriak, maker of megawad Going Down.

Get a copy and read it! You can probably find it in major bookstores and magazine outlets.

Howdy, y'all!

I'm gonna be in Berlin, Germany for A MAZE. Berlin 2015 showing off The Adventures of Square! Will it be just Episode 1? Will we have an Episode 2 preview? Who knows! It'll still be great, either way.

It's going to be a fun evening of crazy game-creating types and artists and whatever at Urban Spree, so get your tickets and come on down!

BE THERE AND BE SQUARE! (has that overstayed its welcome, yet?)

UPDATE 4/23: So Square wasn't one of the finalists, so it wasn't shown in the showcase. Oh, well. I'm still there, though! Come hang out and talk about stuff!

Well, I'm back from my trip to London for EGX, where The Adventures of Square was showcased in the Leftfield Collection from March 12-14. I had an amazing time while I was there, and met a lot of people who were passionate about their games.

I also got to meet up with Jazz Mickle who was basically my guide for the entire day, as well as Jimmy Paddock, his brother Ben Paddock, and BigBrik Games roadie Altazimuth, who were all really helpful in my adventure to England-land.

Not sure if you guys noticed, but I'm busy converting bits and pieces of this site to a Bootstrap 3 layout, for ease of use regarding other viewports and stuff. Almost as fun as a hot sauce enema.

There will probably be bugs here and there, so I'm gonna be cleaning them up when I can. Stay tuned!

Good news, everyone!

The Adventures of Square is gonna be at EGX Rezzed 2015 at London, UK as part of the Leftfield Collection! And I'm gonna be there (and be square)!

I'm both excited and nervous, as this is probably going to be a lot of firsts for me:

  • First time leaving the country.
  • First time going to a gaming convention.
  • First time going to a gaming convention with a game at a showcase.
  • First time meeting up with other people in the Doom Community in-person (always scary).
  • First time needing to convert everything in my head to USD.

All in all, it should be an amazing time. See you there!

'Sup dudes.

I've disabled commenting at the moment because I thought it would be better to implement another engine for that sort of thing. Not that I've been receiving any comments lately, but it's good to explore other technologies that could probably do a better job of it than I can.

So, for now, I'm afraid that I must turn a deaf ear to feedback while I peruse other avenues for discussion-related frameworks. Hopefully this endeavor will be "no big whoop."

UPDATE: Also, I'm well aware of the irony of this announcement considering the topic of the previous article, so you, dear reader, need not point it out.

So I said to myself, I says, I says...

I says, "Self, what should I put on this website that no one will ever read?"

And my self says, "How about a bio that no one will read?"

"That's genius," I says to myself.

And so he says, "Whoa, there, buddy - save that ego stroking for the bio!"

"Oh yeah," I says. "It'd be a shame to keep this brilliant light under a bushel!"

And he says, "Easy, partner - let's not go tootin' horns that we own too loudly."

So I says, "Okay."

So here's my crappy bio, just in case you were wondering if you found the wrong me. Or, just in case that you find what you were looking for, welcome!

Thought I'd set the record straight since there could be a bunch of Matt Tropianos out there. If you think that you found the right Matt Tropiano, I'm not a naval officer that saved a bus full of people (sweet job, dude!), I'm not a 92 year-old from Pennsylvania (who died kind of recently according to online obituaries... condolences), and I never went to High School in Georgia (dunno who that this).

...Not like I'm the sort of weirdo that Googles his name, or anything. Don't give me that look.

I still dominate a lot of the links when you Google "Matt Tropiano"! Booyah!
